UMF stands for “Unbegleitete minderjährige Flüchtlinge” (unaccompanied minor refugees). The group involves a mixed group of people who help realise projects for leisure time for all unaccompanied minor refugees in Osnabrück.
Activities take place every 7 to 14 days, usually on Saturdays. The particular activities vary in their offers – visiting youth centres, playing billiard or table football tournaments, craft projects, upcycling projects (e.g. long-boarding) such as guided tours with a picnic afterwards in the woods or cooking and baking together. These are just a few examples of what we offer.
Through these activities young people from Germany and young refugees can meet and exchange experiences. Ecological and social education can give young refugees an understanding and enjoyment of their new environment in Germany.
The group wants to enable young refugees to:
- Develop skills and interests.
- Develop social competence and to experience self-efficacy.
- Establish new contacts in addition to their accommodation facility.
- Feel welcome in Germany and feel appreciated.
